The challenge

The product had not kept pace with the league.

The WNBA was growing quickly, but its mobile experience was outdated and fragmented. Without a cohesive product strategy or design system, the app was showing up inconsistently for fans and making it harder to follow the league every day.

The solution

Rebuild the foundation, then keep shipping.

In 2023, Deloitte led a full rebuild of the WNBA mobile app with a clear goal: give fans a digital home as compelling as the league itself. The product combined a modern native architecture with a shared design system, richer editorial storytelling, and deeper league and team coverage.

01

A stronger product foundation

A modern iOS and Android architecture and unified design system created a platform the product team could evolve season after season.

02

A daily destination for fans

Scores, schedules, standings, rosters, stats, stories, video, and player profiles made the app useful before, during, and after every game.

03

Continuous product evolution

The partnership continued beyond launch with new seasonal features, including Storyteller, MediaKind, Ping, and Braze.
